Only a few more weeks until our track gets it's new lines! We've taken the time to look at some of our records that are unobtainable as those races no longer are ran. Rudyard has had it's Men's 100 length record in yards since 1964, even though the race has been in meters since 1980. We're retiring the 100 yard record held by R. Besteman and T. Matthias back in 1964 with a run of 10.1. To take it's place as the 100 Meter Record we went through all the UP Finals Rudyard has ran in since 1980 to find the fastest 100m time. This was ran in 2002 by Nathen Templeton, with a time of 11.12. Congratulations to Mr. Besteman and Matthias for having your record being enshrined permanently into Rudyard's record book. Also Congratulations to Mr. Templeton for joining the wall... a few years late. If you'd like to view the current High School or Middle School Track & Field records we have a page (still fine tuning it), on our website: https://www.rudyardbulldogs.org/page/track-field

8th grade students from the Jr/Sr High School have an opportunity to attend an educational trip to Washington DC. Students/Families must self fund or group fundraise for this trip. The deadline is fast approaching to sign up this year. We are excited to announce that an anonymous community member would like to pay the cost (approx $1800) for a student attend the trip that might not otherwise be able to go. Rudyard 8th grade students are encouraged to apply through Mr Folkersma who will then forward the application on to the donor. To apply students should write a personal narrative essay on the following prompt: "what would going on this trip mean to you?" The essay should be at least 250 words in length. Essays are due August 15. Please email essays to cfolkersma1@eupschools.org
