Face to Face College Class Opportunities here at Rudyard

Thank you to our partnering colleges: Baker College and Lake Superior State University.

Baker College

LSSU

Baker

MTH 1110 College Algebra I (3 credits)

Introduces elements of algebra including graphing, variable expressions, linear equations, polynomial operations and factoring, systems of equations, quadratic equations, rational equations, and functions.

Prerequisites:

  • B or better in Algebra 2

  • GPA

  • SAT

Baker

MTH 1120 College Algebra II (3 credits)

Examines more advanced elements of algebra emphasizing the use of algebra and functions in problem solving and modeling. Key topics include functions, inverse functions, complex numbers, rational functions, logarithms, exponential functions, conic sections, sequences and series.

Prerequisite:

  • C or better in MTH 1110

Baker

MTH 1210 Trigonometry (3 credits)

Analyzes trigonometric functions, their properties, solution of right and oblique triangles, radian measure, graphs, trigonometric equations, and applicaionts. Vector and polar coordinates will be examined

Prerequisite:

  • C or better in MTH 1120

Baker

MTH 1310 Pre-Calculus (5 credits)

Examines functions, their inverses, graphs, and properties. Students solve equations and real-world problems involving polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. Conic sections, complex numbers, vectors, sequences and series and also addressed. Limits are introduced.

Prerequisite:

  • C or better in MTH 1120

Baker

MTH 2750 Statistical Methods (3 credits)

Focuses on data interpretation and practical application of introductory level statistics. Emphasizes a conceptual understanding of the use of statistics in various fields, including the ability to interpret results. Topics include development and analysis of descriptive statics, inferential statistics, and regression analysis. Students determine appropriate statistical methods, calculate basic statistical values, and analyze/interpret data sets.

Prerequisite:

  • C or better in MTH 1110

LSSU

ENGL 110

ENGL110 provides students with an introduction to the discipline of writing through an exploration of their own writing processes and products. Emphasis is placed on students learning to think critically about their own writing in order to address issues of coherence, grammar, mechanics, organization, clarity, and content. Other material covered includes the role of literacy in society, the ways in which readers engage text, and the role of writing at the college level.

Prerequisite:

  • B or Higher in ELA 10

LSSU

ENGL 111

First-Year Composition II prepares students for the complex demands of academic literacy and
research. These require students to be able to critically observe personal and public knowledge; ask
questions of reading and research; formulate hypotheses; design and conduct research projects, both
in the library and in the field; and identify further avenues of inquiry.

Prerequisite:

  • C or better in ENGL 110

Dual Enrollment

Students may take up to ten college courses to earn both high school and college credit.  Courses are taken as part of the student's regular schedule.  Eligible students must have achieved a qualifying score on the PSAT or SAT (score depends on the school). The classes that students are eligible for must not be offered by the high school. The school district does not provide textbooks or transportation.  The registration deadline for Fall courses is May 1 and the deadline for Spring courses is November 15.

The Dual Enrollment classes should be taken from college in the state of Michigan.  In-house classes offered by Rudyard teachers do not count toward the 10 course limit. In recent years students have taken dual enrollment classes at LSSU, BMCC, Baker College, Central Michigan University, Mid Michigan Community College and Lansing Community College.
